About the event
This training is designed for the student counselor and seasoned play therapist in an agency, private practice, or school setting interested in learning more about Developmental play therapy. Rooted in attachment theory, we will cover the basic rationale, philosophy, history, and theoretical concepts of Developmental play therapy. Participants will be introduced to FirstPlay® therapy as well. Ethics of touch in the playroom will be discussed. The first 3 hours (Friday) will be on DPT and can be counted as Seminal theories education. The second 3 hours (Saturday) will be on touch and FirstPlay and can be counted as Special Topics education.
Learning Objectives:
1) Participants will identify the theoretical concepts and tenets of DPT.
2) Participants will describe the concepts of FirstPlay® Therapy.
3) Participants will define and discuss the ethics of touch.
4) Participants will communicate the importance of touch.
5) Participants will examine similarities and differences in Developmental and FirstPlay® therapies
6) Participants will integrate new knowledge to create one activity to use in play therapy.
